Jim Herbert

Jim holds a B.S. degree in Management from Virginia Tech’s Pamplin School of Business, conferred in June of 1979. He spent almost 40 years in the insurance industry with responsibilities covering management, marketing, sales, underwriting, recruiting, training, and business ownership. He transitioned into the accounting field during his last 12 years in the insurance industry as the controller for a mid-sized insurance agency. In addition to handling all the agency’s accounting and financial functions, he was responsible for the company’s human resources and benefits programs as well as its IT and computer programs. He also managed the agency’s leasing and purchasing needs along with vendor and merchant relationships. After leaving the agency, he finished the necessary accounting courses that qualified him to sit for the state CPA exam. He then completed his transition into the accounting industry by working for two different public accounting firms in Bel Air. Jim joined WABC in November of 2021 having as his primary responsibility the preparation of individual and some small business tax returns. During his spare time Jim enjoys exercising, learning about computer software, reading biographies or novels based on historical figures, watching college football and college wrestling but, most of all, his favorite pastime is mentoring his grandson, who lives with Jim, his wife, and son in their Bel Air home.

Nancy Valentine, CPA

Anna Prostyakova, CPA

Director of Tax Department

Anna is a Tax Department Manager with 20 years of experience in public accounting, primarily in tax areas. She has been involved in preparation and review of complex individual and business tax returns, as well as tax projections and planning. She has also done work in not-for-profit area as well as the estate and trust taxation. Anna graduated from Towson University with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1999 and received her Certified Public Accountant license a few years later. She enjoys spending time with her family, shopping and traveling.

Aviva Morgenstern, CPA

A&A Technical Director

Aviva joined our firm in July 2005 as a manager. She came with over six years' experience in a big four accounting firm with a strong background in audits of non-profits, higher education and A133 work. Aviva runs our Accounting and Auditing technical division. She is involved with the compliance aspects of our financial statements, researching accounting issues, implementing new pronouncements into our audit framework and training staff both informally and through continuing education classes.
Aviva works diligently to keep the firm up-to-date in the constantly changing accounting environment. In addition, she plays an active role in the quality controls aspects of our firm in working on internal peer reviews and coordinating with the external peer reviewer. Her 20 years of accounting and auditing experience provides a wealth of knowledge to other employees of the firm.
Aviva graduated from Cleveland State University in 1998 and became a licensed CPA in 2000. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland State Accounting Society. Aviva lives in Baltimore with her husband and five children.

Carol A. Giese

Tax Administrator

Carol began working at WABC in January, 2013 after a merger with DRM&K. Carol has been working in the accounting industry since 1994. Carol was previously the office manager at DRM&K but quickly found that being the tax administrator at WABC was a great fit for her, as she loves tax season. In her spare time, Carol enjoys “family fun” night with her family, traveling with her husband, watching movies with her son and doing photography with her daughter.

Debra Simmons

Receptionist

Debbie has been with WABC for 4 years. She take cares of our clients when they call or come in, and keeps the front desk running smoothly. She has been a receptionist for 25 years and loves it. Outside of work, Debbie enjoys going to yard sales, trying to help find lost dogs, and spending time with her husband and rescue lab, CC.

Dustin Page, CPA, CVA

Supervisor

Dustin has been with WABC for almost 10 years.  He specializes in auditing and accounting, as well as working in the WABC Business Valuation department. Dustin is a member of the Anne Arundel Y Community Leadership Board and the Y of Central Maryland Finance Committee. When not working, Dustin enjoys spending time with friends and family and playing music.

Dylan Holy

Senior Associate

Dylan is a sophomore at Stevenson University studying accounting. He joined WABC in December of 2018. Some of his interests include playing soccer, watching sports, and hanging out with friends.

Evan Snyder

Supervisor

Evan began working as an intern in the summer of 2014 and went on to become an associate at WABC in the summer of 2016. After graduating from Stevenson University in 2015, Evan has been working hard while studying for the CPA exam. When Evan is not working, he enjoys some quality family time, watching the Redskins (attempt to win), playing sports, watching movies, and getting together with friends.

Jasmyne E. Birch

Wealth Management Assistant

Jasmyne began working as an associate for WABC in January 2015 after the merger of Dennis H. Weiner & Associates, Chartered. Jasmyne provided accounting and management services to them since 2001 including an expertise in QuickBooks, corporate accounting and individual tax return preparation. She has been with the Wealth Management team since 2016 providing client support. Jasmyne also enjoys planning firm events and participating in marketing initiatives at WABC. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her daughter.

Jenna Cipolloni

Marketing Assistant

Jenna started working at WABC in 2017. She graduated from Towson University with a major in Electronic Media and Film and a minor in Mass Communication. Outside the firm, she's a filmmaker whose work has screened at various film festivals around the East Coast.

Julia Rissling

Client Accounting Services

Julia started working at WABC in March of 2022. She has been working in bookkeeping services for 10 years, which was a natural extension from 25 years in tax accounting services. She has her Quickbooks Online ProAdvisor Certification. In her free time her two teenage children and her black lab puppy keep her mentally alert and emotionally fulfilled. She likes to cook, clean, and read. A great running and exercise habit helps to give her the energy she needs to keep up with it all!

Karen Zeigler

Director of Client Accounting Services

Karen joined the WABC team in April of 2018 with 20+ years of bookkeeping and accounting experience spanning a variety of workplace scenarios and industries that include both corporate and small business. Karen is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor with certification and advanced certification in QuickBooks Online and Desktop software. In her spare time she enjoys golfing, running, and time with her husband and blended family of 11 children.

Lisa Stevens

Firm Administrator

Lisa has worked for WABC for over 20 years. She started as the receptionist and has worked her way up to the firm administrator. She takes care of human resources, operations, and information technology at the firm, along with client bookkeeping. When not at WABC, she likes to read, watch movies with family, go gambling, or get together with friends.

Mandy Holmes

Client Accounting Services

Mandy joined the WABC in November 2021. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2012 with a degree in Mathematics. She has her QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Certification. When Mandy is not working she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and watching movies.

Miriam Zaghi

Audit Supervisor

Miriam Zaghi has been in public accounting for six years and joined WABC in October 2018. She will be supervising various audit engagements at WABC. She attended Touro College in Brooklyn where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and then continued to become a Certified Public Accountant. She spent her first six years as an accountant working at PKF O'Connor Davies in New York City where she performed many real estate and non-for profit audits.

Nate is a junior at Towson University and he is working on completing his bachelor’s degree in accounting. After getting his bachelor’s degree, he plans to work towards obtaining his master’s degree and taking the CPA exam. He started at WABC in February of 2023. His interests are hanging out with friends and family, watching sports, and relaxing with his dog.

Robin Dawson

Administrative Assistant

Ms. Dawson holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Towson University. Her degree has provided the background for her high level of experience in dealing with interpersonal business relationships. Her varied positions have included the scheduling and maintenance of a transportation rental fleet of handicap accessible vehicles to a more structured office-oriented environment assisting professional advisors. Robin joined Dennis Weiner’s firm in January of 2012 and brought her seasoned administrative support skills. When Dennis merged with Weil, Akman, Baylin & Coleman, PA in January of 2015 she offered those same skills to WABC. She enjoys playing tennis and raising her three children.

Ryan's interest are sports, working out and chess. He started his internship at WABC in October of 2023. In the future he plans to complete his bachelor’s degree in accounting and earn his CPA license.

Sarah Kirchoff

Administrative Assistant

Sarah has worked at WABC for 9 years, but has worked in various administrative/customer relations positions since 2004. She really enjoys the “jack of all trades” aspect that comes with working in administration. She handles multiple tasks ranging from accounts receivable and processing tax returns and financial statements to helping with IT issues to planning firm events. Her day is never boring. She enjoys the personal touch of dealing with clients over the phone and in person, especially during tax season. Born and raised in Baltimore, Sarah lives in Dundalk with her husband and puppy Willow while enjoying music, movies, time with her family, and volunteering.

Tim began working as an intern in the summer of 2019 and went on to become an associate in the summer of 2021 after graduating from Stevenson University in the spring. Tim is currently working towards his Masters in Forensic Accounting at Stevenson. When Tim is not working, he enjoys going on runs, riding his motorcycle and hanging out with friends.

Timothy Valenta, CPA

A native Marylander and graduate of Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University), Tim has been a CPA with the firm for over twenty years. Originally starting as an intern, he performs a wide range of the services offered by the firm including individual, business and not-for-profit tax return preparation, financial statement auditing and reporting, and providing accounting and tax advice to our clients. Tim is an active member of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants and Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Andy Garrett, CPA

Managing Partner

Andy Garrett started his career as an intern at WABC. He became a partner in 2002 and the Managing Partner in 2015. As Managing Partner, Andy oversees the firm's M&A activity, business development, operations, corporate strategy and relationship management. He believes that true success can only be accomplished by leaving every client and team member with an enriching and memorable experience. With over 30 years in the profession, Andy is recognized as a leader in accounting, tax work and consulting for the transportation industry and is a frequent guest speaker and lecturer. His expertise also extends to manufacturing, construction and wholesale distribution clients. In his free time, Andy enjoys watching and playing all types of sports. He likes spending time at the beach, and he especially loves spending time with his wife and son.

Carl Baylin, CPA

Principal

Carl Baylin has been in accounting for 40 years – more than 30 of them with WABC. He is experienced in complicated real estate and partnership tax issues and specializes in tax, real estate, finance, business planning, mergers and acquisitions and retirement planning. Carl is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. A graduate of the University of Baltimore, Carl is an active member of his community and the treasurer of United Support Against Multiple Sclerosis, an all-volunteer organization that provides educational and recreational services to Marylanders with MS.

Michele Tremblay, CPA, MST, AEP

Principal

As director of WABC’s tax department, Michele specializes in business consulting, tax reduction strategies and estate planning. She is an expert in working with businesses and their owners to implement  comprehensive planning tactics to minimize taxes while achieving goals. Michele has a Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Baltimore and is a member of that institution’s Accounting Advisory Board. She is an accredited estate planner and past president of the Baltimore Estate Planning Council and a member of the National Association of Women’s Business Owners. Michele has spent her entire 25-year accounting career with WABC, a decision she attributes to the unique level of care the firm shows to its clients and staff. In her free time, Michele is dedicated to her children's activities and her community. When not at T-ball or soccer, she often can be found building sand castles on the beach.

Ezra Kronglas, CPA

Principal

Ezra has been advising businesses and individuals for over 35 years, helping them make financial decisions, devise tax saving strategies and implement accounting procedures. Ezra works closely with his clients, developing relationships that allow them to benefit from his knowledge and expertise. Ezra has been a partner in a local CPA firm for over 25 years before merging practices with Weil, Akman, Baylin & Coleman, P.A. Ezra holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Loyola College (Suma Cum Laude), a master's degree in taxation from the University of Baltimore and a Master of Talmudic Law from Ner Israel. Ezra is a member of the boards of local charitable organizations and devotes much time to his synagogue as well as to his growing family.

Jeff Coleman, JD, CPA

Principal

A long-time resident of the Baltimore area, Jeff received his BA in accounting from Loyola College of Maryland in 1972. Jeff also earned his law degree from University of Baltimore and is uniquely qualified to provide litigation support and expert testimony. Jeff’s colleagues, clients and family also know him as a world-traveler and devoted husband, father of three sons, and grandfather. After nearly 40 years of professional experience, Jeff still feels the same love for his profession as when he took his first accounting class in high school.

Jim Kehl, CPA, MST

Principal

James M. Kehl, CPA, M. S. Taxation is currently with the accounting firm of Weil, Akman, Baylin & Coleman, P. A. (WABC), which is located in Timonium, Maryland. Mr. Kehl is the author of The Practical Guide to Code Sec. 199 and the Code Sec. 199 Tax Planning & Compliance Manual. He has also authored articles on partnership income tax topics that have appeared in The Journal of Passthrough Entities, Taxes-The Tax Magazine, Tax Strategies, BNA’s Daily Tax Report, BNA’s Insights and Commentary, and BNA’s Real Estate Taxation. Mr. Kehl is one of the contributing authors to the treatise by CCH entitled Federal Taxation of Partnerships & Partners.

Mary E. Gregory, CPA

Principal

Mary E. Hall has 35 years' experience in public accounting with concentrations in tax, business accounting, and business management consulting. She has extensive professional involvement in complex taxation for individuals and small- and medium-sized businesses including consulting on mergers and acquisitions. A Certified Public Accountant, Mary obtained her bachelor's degree in accounting from Loyola College in 1984, Summa Cum Laude. Her interests outside of work include playing golf, playing and watching tennis and spoiling her five grandchildren. She has five wonderful sisters and no brothers.

Michael Dancziger, CPA

Principal

Michael has been in public accounting for over 10 years and joined WABC in January 2014 with the DRMK merger. He oversees the accounting and tax requirements of many clients in a wide array of industry and values the lasting relationships he has developed through working with them to meet their needs and challenges, whether big or small. He also enjoys training and working with staff members who are beginning their careers in public accounting. Michael lives in Baltimore with his wife and five children.

Nicole Yost, CPA

Principal

Nicole joined WABC as an intern in 2001. After graduating from Western Maryland College, cum laude (currently known as McDaniel College) in 2002, she continued her accounting career with our firm.  Nicole works in our accounting and auditing department and has comprehensive tax knowledge to provide well-rounded services to our clients. She performs financial statement audits, reviews and compilations and provides business and tax consulting services to our business and individual clients. Her areas of expertise include construction, trucking, manufacturing and retirement plan audits.  When not in the office or at a clients, Nicole can be found on the playground with her daughter and husband or on the trails training for her next half marathon.

J. Richard Block, CPA

Principal

J. Richard Block has been representing law firms for over 20 years.  He is a frequent lecturer to the Maryland State Bar Association's members on "How to Start a Law Practice" and "How to Make Law Firms More Profitable."  In addition to his experience in accounting for law firms and litigation support, Richard has industry-specific expertise in construction, real estate and medical practice. An undergraduate at the University of Maryland with a certificate of accounting from the University of Baltimore, Richard is active in civic affairs. He is on the Advisor Council of the Baltimore Community Foundation; has served as president of the Baltimore Jobs and Energy Project, an urban revitalization and job creation effort; and was a board member of the Village Learning Place in Baltimore.
